Sedation

A lot of people who are aware of the complexity of dental treatment are experiencing anxiety and fear. Pain, discomfort and other unpleasant sensations during dental procedures can be avoided by sedation.

Sedation is an attenuation and sedation of consciousness caused by medication. The patient is conscious during sedation, but feels much calmer and relaxed, no fear. Different levels of sedation can be used depending on the complexity of the treatment procedures and the patient`s own needs – from light to deep. Sedation is recommended for particularly sensitive patients, both adults and children. Sedation may be applied if:

  • A long and complex procedure is foreseen
  • The patient does not want to know what is going on during the procedure;
  • Feeling great fear, intolerant pain;
  • When a patient experiences nausea during dental procedures.

What should you need to know before sedation?

  • Do not eat 6 hours before the procedure;
  • If you are taking medicines, are gravida or have allergies, it is necessary to inform your doctor.
  • After the procedure, you will need an accompanying person who will be able to supervise you until the sedation effect disappears.
